15 years of Socieconomic Atlas of Rio Grande do Sul

Fifteen years of changes in Rio Grande do Sul State economy and society shown in the pages of the State Socioeconomic Atlas

Abstract:
This article aims at recovering the construction process of the State Socioeconomic Atlas, as well as explaining some changes undergone by the main territorial dynamics, in the last 15 years, shown by the Atlas. Initially a background on the Atlas development is made, and methodological elements that characterized the different editions are presented. In a second moment, themes that point to the urban-industrial expansion of Porto Alegre-Caxias do Sul axis and the escalation of population decline in the State southwest and northwest areas were addressed. Following come closing remarks and references used.

Socioeconomic Atlas of Rio Grande do Sul State: fifteen years monitoring State's transformations

Abstract:
This article aims at recovering the building process of the Socioeconomic Atlas, as well as addressing some transformations undergone by state economy and society that may be identified in the fifteen-year trajectory of the publication. Initially a background on the Atlas development is made, and methodological elements that characterized the different editions are presented. In a second moment, it was made an approach of the themes that point to the changes occurred in the state economy and society along these fifteen years. Following come the closing remarks and references used.
